Dorothy, Carla, and Natasha (AKA Lindy Vision) are making some big moves this year. They just released "Adult Children: Part II," and in a few days, they are opening for their most significant performance yet, Phantogram. "We're right in the middle of practicing," said Natasha Cuyler, guitarist for Lindy Vision. "Our next big show is March 17 at the Sunshine Theater. We're opening for Phantogram, which is pretty exciting."
"The show is set. We're just going through the motions at this point," said Carla, drummer. "This is a huge show for us because we really like Phantogram. We want to open strong." "We just shot a music video and doing a lot of art stuff," said Natasha. "We were going to take this month off, but now we're playing March 17th. So I think our next show will probably be in April."
The Phantogram show will be their second time playing at the Sunshine Theater. The first was when they opened for Spoon in 2014. "That was when we were first putting music out. We got that show because we knew one of the band members of Spoon, and so we were lucky enough to book that show with them," said Dorothy.
Their journey is quite inspiring. They are educated, female, half African American, half Jicarilla Apache, and, most of all, resilient. Life is tough, and Lindy Vision's music is a reminder that living a creative life produces an alluring, beautiful experience.
"Our music is very autobiographical. A lot of times, what we are going through gets channeled through the music. Now that we are at different places in our lives, we're trying to come together to get on the same page. It's cool now because we're all doing our own things. I don't know what our next album will sound like, and it's kind of cool to see what the next project will be," said Natasha. "I would actually say this was a therapeutic healing project for us," said Dorothy. "Both albums, Adult Children I &II, was a full-length recording, and we decided to release them separately to explore the longevity of the music. It's nice to just let this project breathe and let it have a life of its own."
Natasha is an attorney and a small business owner of a small brewery. Carla is a pharmacist working in a substance abuse treatment facility. Dorothy is also a pharmacist at an HIV/Hep C clinic and a yoga instructor.
"We've been playing music since high school, but professionally we started in 2014," said Natasha. "We had our first official EP release, and that was released under Lindy Vision. "it's taken Albuquerque a while to catch on to us, to understand what we are doing," said Natasha. "When we were starting out, there wasn't a lof to local artists doing what we are doing. Its a heavy metal scene."
"Everything we have done has been managed by ourselves," said Dorothy. "We're making moves, but we're waiting for the right opportunity."
One thing for sure is that support from Dulce will always be there. Keep an eye and ear out for what they will be doing next by following them on Instagram at LindyVisionMusic. Their music is available for download on Bandcamp and iTunes. Streaming on Spotify and Apple Music is also available.
