David was my teacher/adviser in college. I love his work and I hope to see you there
516 ARTS announces a book release party for photography icons of New Mexico, David Scheinbaum and Janet Russek. David Scheinbaum's HIP HOP: Portraits of an Urban Hymn is a volume of photographs and essays that explore hip-hop music. Scheinbaum's photographs are accompanied by essays including an introduction by Brian Hardgroove of the music group Public Enemy. Janet Russek's The Tenuous Stem, published by Radius Books, includes an essay written by art scholar and critic MaLin Wilson-Powell, addressing Russek's creative process.
David and Janet are generously offering selected original prints for sale at this event, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the nonprofit 516 ARTS. They are also signing a limited edition of 11" x 17" posters of their work, produced just for this event, 100% of the proceeds from which will benefit 516 ARTS.
The celebration will include a live DJ from the scene of David Scheinbaum's work, and refreshments from Tractor Brewing.
